Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are an American professional basketball team based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The Pistons compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division. The team plays its home games at The Palace of Auburn Hills and was founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana as the Fort Wayne (Zollner) Pistons in 1941, a member of the National Basketball League (NBL). The Pistons joined the Basketball Association of America (BAA) in 1948. In 1949, the NBL and BAA merged to become the NBA, and the Pistons became part of the merged league. Since moving to Detroit in 1957, the Pistons have won three NBA championships in 1989, 1990, and 2004.

Detroit Pistons City Jersey

The Detroit Pistons have new Detroit Pistons City jersey, and they pay homage to every era of the franchise's championship history.

The NBA and Nike unveiled 2021-22 Detroit Pistons City Jersey Monday and they honor the league's 75th anniversary. The Pistons' iteration of the jersey features plenty of red, some blue, hints of teal and cameos by the flaming horse logo from the 1990s and 2000s, and the lightning bolt logo from the late 1970s.

“This year’s Nike NBA City Edition uniform is a celebration of our franchise’s rich history,” Alicia Jeffreys, Pistons' senior vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “From the Bad Boys era to the ‘90s teal to the Goin’ to Work championship team, this jersey represents the Detroit Pistons legacy as we continue to build and restore for the future.”

The horse logo is embedded into the front of the shorts, and there are blue-and-teal lightning bolts on both the left and right side of the shorts. There's also a patch on the bottom right corner of the jersey, and the numbers "89," "90" and "04," referencing the three years the franchise won championships, appear underneath the patch. Above the patch is another white lightning bolt.

The new Detroit Pistons City jersey goes on sale Nov. 15.
